Smart Minds started because a school in Bengaluru was running its attendance in a paper register, its fees in a spreadsheet, and its parent communication in a WhatsApp group somebody had to add every new family to by hand. Three systems, none of which knew the others existed, and one clerk holding all three together.
We sat in the office first.
Not in a boardroom with a head teacher, but at the counter, on the mornings that go wrong. Watching somebody take a parent’s call about a fee that was paid a fortnight ago and hunt for the receipt in a drawer.
